Actually as a writer/reviewer kirino from oremio is a perfect example of a mary sue in recent anime history. Nothing the she does is ever wrong in the eyes of parents or friends. She has perfect grades, very athletic and is a teen model loved by most the student body. She never progresses over the series and always falls back on her older brother while treating him like a piece of shit, while having this huge support group. it is just that one little hobby she has that makes her different and isn't enough to make her a likeable character in my personal opinion. I can dive more into this however this is not " I hate this anime character because of", I am just listing off examples.

I mean her whole schick is that she is Perfect at Everything. It's pretty much the main plot device of the series.

In fact I think her superpower has officially been described as what ever ability she encounters in an opponent she gains it and comes up with a perfect version of it.

If you read the recently released redone manga I can promise you'll have a different opinion.

Hey well i totally agree that some of the people here don't know the actual meaning of mary sue.....but I'll also say that many manga/anime girls ARE mary sues. Not necessarily the main character has to be. Mary sue is someone who looks perfect, acts perfect, has a perfect body, every "useful" talent, and everyone practically worships the ground she walks on. Think about that and choose your Mary Sue's carefully!:) Also may I list several Mary Sue's myself? Some may not agree. But in my opininon they are mary sues.
Nodoka Haramura from Saki:
-Pink hair(pretty colored hair....major mary sue sign.)
-HUGE CHEST with a small slim body(Alright face the facts people.....there are some cases who this rule does not apply too but in most cases, the smaller and slimer a female is, the less their cup size will be. Unless you're a mary sue that is.....)
-She's extraordinarily good at mahjong and apparently attractive
-She's POPULAR and has fans and reprters chasing her everywhere
Alright I thikn she's a major one. And by the way.......Tohru from Fruits Basket isn't necessarily a mary sue. She's just very kind. I don't see her being popular nor is it mentioned that all the boys swoon over her. Just because you are nice DOES NOT make you subject to being a mary sue.
