Otakus in Japan are different than the Otakus the non-Japanese people think they are.

Collecting figurine, buying dakishimete pillows, having a waifu, being an hikkikomori, collecting ero magazines, collecting doujins and -----etc.

In one word,

KIMOI.

If you're just a normal dude that likes animu desu, then you're just a normal animu rabuaaaaa---not an otaku.
Read Genshiken and you'll understand what otakus are.It's all about otakus,bby.REAL OTAKUS.There's nothing to be proud to be an otaku if you don't want to be labeled as kimoi. There's a lot of people who like watching anime, but that doesn't mean that they're necessarily otakus. Otakus in Japan are considered as WEIRDOS, OUT-OF-THE-ORDINARY people. You can draw manga without being an otaku, you can draw anime-style picture without being an otaku, you can appreciate the Modern Visual Japanese Culture without being an otaku.OTAKU IS EXCESSIVENESS.
