Vanguard The protagonist of this story, Sendo Aichi, is a timid boy in his third year of middle school. He had been living his life looking backward rather than forward, trying not to stand out. However, he had one thing that kept him going - the "Blaster Blade," a card from a card game that was given to him when he was little. That card is the reason why he begins to engage in Card Fights, something that changes his life drastically. The name of the card game is "Vanguard." The game takes place in a different planet called "Klay," and due to a never before seen play system, it becomes popular throughout the world. Aichi, immediately attracted by Vanguard, meets friends such as Togura Misaki and Katsuragi Kamui, along with other rivals. Through friendly rivalry with them, Aichi begins to enjoy a fulfilling life. Aichi, however, has a goal: to once again battle with a Vanguard Fighter by the name of Kai Tosihki. Kai Toshiki is an aloof and cold-hearted high schooler who has outstanding abilities in the world of Vanguard. He is also the reason why Aichi started playing the game. For him, Toshiki is the person who saved him from his boring life and introduced him to Vanguard. In order to get better at Vanguard, Aichi puts his soul into it every day. He wishes that someday, he'll be able to battle Toshiki and have him recognize his worth. Be sure to join the official Cardfight!! Vanguard Facebook page by clicking here. Yeah, unless it is surprisingly highly acclaimed, this one is a pass for me too.
Also, it's really terrible how it's limited to only 4 countries (luckily, I'm in Canada but still...) |

I'm glad that it will at least be getting subbed, even if it was an expected title.

Well whatever I'll give this a try as well when it comes out.
Also, its only going to be 12 episodes so for those card game anime fans this isn't going to be your usual long ~ series. |

I might try it. But I've never understood the appeal of card game anime and manga... Most of them I've barely been able to stand 2 minutes of.
And the other two announced yesterday sound incredibly boring. Where's the epic stories? I want shows like Toaru Majutsu no Index, or Fullmetal Alchemist, or Full Metal Panic. |

Looks like St. Seiya with cards. 8 year olds might like card game anime but not this guy.
Have to agree with jerrac, we need good shows like the Index / Railgun series. Would love to see Crunchyroll get those up before Funimation butchers the quality and puts them on Hulu. (uggg....hulu.....baaaadd...) |

Still, if y'all in Norway is going to miss one, Cardfight!! Vanguard! !! !!! probably is not the most painful one to miss. Pity the poor bouncy bouncy fans in Spanish America who are missing Card-dealer!! Bouncy Bouncy Rio. jerrac wrote: And the other two announced yesterday sound incredibly boring. (uggg....hulu.....baaaadd...) Winter is normally the weakest of the four seasons, and not normally the time that they start a year-long series, so Beezlebub is a get, even if a year-or-longer Shonen Jump comedy/action series may not be my cup of tea. Here's hoping that Crunchyroll is able to snatch a gem or two out of the broadcast season mostly made up of regurgitated High School plotlines that makes up this fairly limp Winter season. |

Still older than the President and younger than The Ancient One

First, someone needs to make the series in question. Have you checked the list of Winter 2011 anime to see if there are indeed any that you would deem an "epic story"? Funimation holds the license to the three series you mentioned, so that should give you a clue why CR does not have them. I would love to see CR license Index II for simulcast (even though only half the series remains to air), but although Funimation has not announced a license of it yet, I suspect the publisher will continue to withhold it from streaming in the U.S. (and therefore on CR) in hopes that they will. |
