Too bad some are put off by it. I'll try to pull through that scene and look for the diamond in the rough. Actually it happens more than once... Give it a few episodes and you'll understand why. |

Au contraire. For me, this was what kept me watching. This and all the other innuendo... Despite the amount of innuendo present, I do agree that the story is rather sweet. More relationship based than just sex, in contrast to other anime with innuendo. hpulley wrote: The Japanese is really easy to understand, vocab is pretty similar in most chapters if you want to read the original text. Interesting... So it's like a adult themed story meant for younger people? What about the kanji though? How difficult is it? Is furigana present on all kanji or only the difficult ones? I've watched the anime, and I really like it. I'm interested in the manga because I like the story and also for learning purposes, thanks to your revelation. |

OK, I will admit I love the drool and pantsu hasami! Not much furigana so it does require some reading knowledge. I think it is seinen so at least high school kanji is assumed. But that said, his diction doesn't change that much though the movie arc did add some for sure. I hold in my hands Afternoon Magazine January 2013 with Nazo no Kanojo chapter 72!!! Love it! |

The spit exchange seems to symbolize the sexual exchange of bodily fluids and as the story progressed it was really quite sweet and, somehow, not that disgusting. However, I found the panty shears to be rather freaky, though quite amusing. The shears in itself seems to be a phallus symbol and it's quite scary whenever Mikoto pulls it out. I'm still interested in the manga though, high school kanji is quite difficult for me though but maybe I'll try to get it in the original language. Since the words have redundancy throughout the story, as you say, it could be a good learning experience. Thanks BTW... |

I think it is really sweet though the drool, pantsu shots and nudity implied but not detailed makes it fairly ecchi I guess. It is one of my favorite all time manga. It is great for learning. Nothing like wanting to know what happens as an incentive. Edit: I enjoyed reading chapter 72 in the January 2013 issue of Afternoon which arrived via DHL from amazon.co.jp, price is up to ¥750! Spoilers ahead... Not a summary but points that may or may not spoil it for you. Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide Mysterious Fruits! Dem boots! Dat dream! Very funny, cute, pantsu hasami! Great stuff... Refers to the movie but only in a very funny, good way. He even makes fun of the DVD sales number obsession. Love this series! Oh man, I gotta wait another month now, rats! |

Love it so much, keeping my fingers crossed that it gets licensed eventually

I am shocked and sad that Kodansha USA isn't printing it here. No need to license it, just translate and go with their USA company but their catalog is still very small. Frustration with the long delays and changes made in translation are what originally made me want to learn Japanese. Seems those reasons still exist today unfortunately. |

I'm loving the manga almost like a favorite. Urabe is my favorite character and the best. She's cute, hot, cool, blunt, and--true to the title--mysterious. Heck, without the drool (which didn't bother me at all) and its quirks, this series would be passed off as just "another romcom".

Only problem is, that means I am completely caught up on the manga, even in the monthly Afternoon magazine. So now begins the wait for the next issue... which coincidentally will contain the final 219th chapter of Blade of the Immortal so be sure to pre-order it if you don't subscribe as it will be a classic and will probably fly off the shelves and sell out very quickly. |
