These are the animes I have seen and/or are watching: Magi Sword Art Online Naruto Shippuden Linebarrels of Iron Fairy Tail Hellsing Full Metal Panic Vampire Knight Full Metal Alchemist Princess Mononoke Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Movie Evangelion 1 0 Claymore Fruits Basket FLCL Dragon Ball Z Dragon Ball Rurouni Kenshin Avatar: The Last Airbender Vandread Wolfs Rain DN Angel Absolutely fate zero. I would say that the second Avatar arc is worth a go too, legend of korra. I actually enjoyed it alot more than the original If you havent seen the Kenshin OVAs then do it, they are amazing. I believe they're sometimes called Samurai X? Eva 2 goes without saying. I would also say Hunter x Hunter, you have alot of shonen in there and I really do believe HxH is the pinnacle of shonen. Thanks for the help! |

I am wondering if any of you fine folks can help me. I'm looking for an anime that has a strong element of horror, suspense and/or mystery to it. The darker/more intriguing the better. Recommendations do not need to be on CR. Shows similar to the ones I'm requesting that I've already seen. Paranoia Agent Gosick Another Hell Girl Mirai Nikki Death Note I know I've seen more but that's all I can think of off the top of my head. If you make a recommendation, please note whether it's primarily horror/suspense/mystery. Thank you in advance for your time and suggestions. |

Oh right. I also have a request. I'm looking for a good anime like Sukitte Iinayo. You know, an anime with "I love you so much I can't breath" moments. "I love you so much I can't function because all I can think of is you" moments. "I love you so much it's driving me crazy" moments. A romance where both parties experiance personal growth would be nice.
It doesn't have to be something I haven't seen. No need too try to hard just throw whatever names come to mind when you here this at me. I'm looking for something I can go back and watch again. P.S. It doesn't have to be just romance as long as it has the above mentioned moments. Thank You. |

Shows that I liked: Nana/Paradise Kiss/ Neighborhood Story Princess Jellyfish His and Her Circumstances Kimi ni Todoke Toradora -Mysterious Girlfriend X Stuff I don't like: -harems -Key anime (Clannad, Kanon, Air, etc). They are unnecessarily tragic and something about the character designs creep me out. I think it's the eyes. I don't mind a tragic love story, though. -I would prefer something not set in high school, but I'd be willing to try it even if it is set in high school. -Not really into yaoi, yuri, incest, or hentai I'm watching Say I Love You and My Little Monster this season and they are pretty good. These are all the ones I like other than what you already listed: Itazura na Kiss - Pretty decent straight romance anime with a likable female lead and a tsundere male lead. Less than half of the story is in high school. Nodame Cantabile- More slice of life and music than romance. But there is a sizable romantic subplot that develops over the course of the series. Takes place in college and beyond. Lovely Complex - A nice high school romantic comedy about a tall girl and short boy. Kaichou wa Maid-sama - A well made high school romantic comedy about a student body president who works at a maid cafe. Ouran High School Host Club - Really fun to watch lightly reverse harem romantic comedy. Marmalade Boy - Early 90's high school romance anime. Sort of the archetype for a lot of others in the genre, a little lengthy and melodramatic but not bad. Thanks a lot! Some of those have been on my radar for a little while, but I never paid much attention to them. I especially interested in Nodame Cantabile and Lovely Complex. |

His and Her Circumstances- Say I Love You actually reminded me a lot of this one. |

If you make a recommendation, please note whether it's primarily horror/suspense/mystery. Thank you in advance for your time and suggestions. Monster is a VERY good anime that has all the elements you're looking for. I recommend watching the dub, however, which is also good. It's about how a renowned Japanese neruosurgeon living in 1980s Germany--Kenzo Tenma--who decides to save a little boy who had a gunshot wound to the head instead of the mayor as he was instructed. Maybe he should have saved the mayor because people around him start to die and he is the main suspect behind the killings. He IS in fact innocent, but not according to the circumstantal evidence. But he doesn't start his run until more people are killed by the "Monster". The young boy Dr. Tenma saved years ago: Johan Libert. Mystery, suspense (mainly mystery) Perfect Blue is a psychological anime movie by the late Satoshi Kon who I think created Paranoia Agent. It's about an up-and-coming pop singer turned actress who develops DID. It's very psychological. Suspense, horror, mystery (mainly suspense). Paprika (also by Satoshi Kon) is also a psychological thriller movie based on a person's dream that can penetrate other people's dreams and soon breaks into the real world. Mystery. Shadow Star Narutaru is a horror manga (has an anime) that was so gruelsome that some pages and even whole volumes had to be edited out for the English translation. It is also hard to even find some pictures from the original Japanese print online. HORROR. Gantz is a horror manga too (has an anime). It's about how 2 high school boys are sucked into a sort of "game" of survival. If they kill whatever thing they are suppose to kill they can go back home. If they die, however, they can never go back. Also, they are magically sucked into the game at anytime. I should also mention that to get into the game the person has to die first. HORROR, suspense at times. Shigurui. I honestly don't know much about this anime, but it has samurais and lots of gore and blood. Horror. AKIRA is a crazy manga and motion picture anime. It's a cult classic so you can pretty much google it and find better answers/explainations than I can give. However, the gist of the story is about a gang of bike boys from Tokyo whose one friend gets telekinetic powers when he crashes his bike into a strange blue boy. Once he realizes his powers he eventually goes mad with it, and as these stories go, his powers get out of control. The result is gross and confusing. The story mainly follows the leader of the biker gang trying to kill the friend with the supernatural powers. Suspense, horror, mystery (mainly action and suspense). The Higurashi series is a popluar horror anime that features 3-5 episodes dedicaded to a specific story line. I think at the end of each one the main character--Keiichi Maebara (I think that's his name)-- dies along with other characters in this little rural town called Hinamizawa. HORROR with a captial H (the same can be said about Shadow Star also). ShadowMaze wrote: Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide Oh right. I also have a request. (BTW, Say "I Love You" is nothing like Kare Kano. Like, not even close.) Suzuka --Harem (the group is only 2 girls and it's kinda obvious who wins.) Black Bird is a manga series, but has the things you're lookin for though. giraffeswillrulewrote: Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide REQUEST I'm looking for a new romance anime to watch. I totally recommend Marmalade Boy if you liked Kare Kano. It's set in high school however, and it's kinda old (like 80s/90s clothes/colors but it was made around 1997 or something like that). But don't let these things throw you off from this awesome anime. It has lost of drama, but the draw back for you is that it's a reverse harem, but I believe it's actually done well and not overdone/cliche like a normal male harem is like. We Were There Peach girl --Sort of a reverse harem but only with 2 people. Lots of drama also. Fruits Basket-- A tragic story about a family cursed by the zodiac. Reverse harem. I know you're lookin for anime but there's some good manga also! Sand Chronicles--Sort of melodramatic. It's about a flashback to when a girl who moves to the country with her mom after her parents divorce. There "her life begins" and she goes through love drama and struggles to grow with adversity. High School Debut--Haruna(forgot her last name) wants to get a boyfriend and decides she needs a coach. Somehow she gets an upperclassmen--Yoh Komiyama--to help her on one condition. She must not fall in love with her. It's a romantic-comedy. Papillon is a manga written by the same manga-ka who wrote Peach girl, so expect lots of romance. It's about the less attractive twin who tries to shed her shy, "nerdy" exterior so she can stand up her more attractive younger, who, by the way stole a potential boyfriend. |

Plot heavy and/or character driven anime. I like: Ghost in the Shell Death Note Code Geass SAO (first arc) Dislike: Dragon Ball (was fine when I was 7) SAO (second arc) Silly Comedies Lots of filler More info: SAO recently rekindled my interest in anime and reminded me that anime is not just stupid comedies and ever increasing power levels. Prior to SAO the last series I had watched was Death Note. I just finished watching both seasons of Code Geass and was blown away by the quality. It was the first show in a long time that I just could not stop watching. I know there is alot of anime out there. Just trying to look through Crunchyroll's library is exhausting. So, I hope there are other series with as much plot and character development as Code Geass and Death Note or set in interesting worlds like Ghost in the Shell. Thank you for any recommendations. |
