Where have all the Kadokawa gone?
Long time waiting. Where have all the Kadokawa gone? Long time ago. Where have all the Kadokawa gone? Gone to niconico, every one. When will they ever learn? When will they ever learn? ... |

I really do hope that you will get some more shows for us folks outside the US and Canada next season. Right now we pay the same subscription fee for only a fraction of the shows...

Yes this. I'll continue to support this site because I want to somehow be able to support the industry. But I won't be happy. The right thing to do would be to make us outside NA pay a sum smaller than NA subscribers... That would be fair. |

I agree its so unfair. i'm paying to watch legally stuff and still there is only 4/11 titles that i can see; if stuff r keep like this i guess it would be right to find another site to watch anime for my region. Crunchyroll should really pay attention to ppl paying for memberships and not only US and Canada; so pleasy crunchy do something about it. if not they should put that when u r buying a membership it shows they air more just for us and canada so this kind of trouble stops. |

I am! I was hoping CR would get this one in our region of the UK, but alas, NOOOOOO!!! |

Go figure that it wouldnt be releases in the UK. There does seem to be quite a few Sentai titles on CR these days which means the UK and other countries will never have any hope..
It's kinda annoying because we all pay the same amount for our subscription and get a lot less shows. I bet the money people outside the US pay helps go towards acquiring titles that we people outside the US cant watch... |

I appreciate the licenses, but I really wish something could be done to make these come out in a more timely and less late manner for stuff airing this season. As it is NicoNico's big launch on the 20th fizzled out with delays... I guess it just shows how complicated the licensing issues are if it takes a quarter of the way through the season to make new announcements.
edit... About the show... I've been watching it since it came out, show does actually air Tues so it's for a 4 day latecast but whatever... it's not too bad so far, I think it could go either way... meaning either this one is going to dive into the depths of oblivion of the generic romance/harem anime, or it could turn into something really good. |

So far behind on anime... need to catch up

Never say never. It is a challenge, because right now it involves the cost of a second contract to Crunchyroll, which reduces how much they can offer for extra regions, and a second contract to the original rights holder, with contracting costs on that side as well, which makes the offer for extra regions less attractive. There are several was to cope with it, but they all involve a standing deal with Sentai/TAN, and standing deals take a longer time to negotiate. |

It is more likely that your money goes toward subsidizing those that watch the free ad-supported streams outside the United States (and Canada). Truly international advertisers are hard to come by, and selling ads piecemeal for various countries isn't very cost effective, especially for those with smaller (online) populations. While Europe has a much larger population than the United States and Canada combined, it isn't licensed as a single region, while the U.S. and Canada are. The U.S. and Canada could do fine by themselves, as evidenced by the other U.S./Canada only streaming operations. The last I saw it mentioned, over 60% of CR's revenue comes from the United States. If you want a better idea of what other countries could support in terms of titles and cost, you need look no further than Anime on Demand in the UK, or Siren's streaming offerings via ANN in Australia. |

Yes, that's my real age.

And here I was thinking why did I move to the UK. US gets all the titles! UK gets most.

Still your mind, move on instinct.

Crunchyroll is based in California, so its obvious that the United States would have priority. Because of the close cultural and economic ties, as well as being a northern neighbor, Canada also benefits from licensing that is for primarily for the United States.
I have to say I'm rather surprised at how large the international subscriber base (both free and premium) is for CR going by the comments. I would think that there would be other European/Australian/Asian sites that would cater to the international market better but I guess they aren't as good as Crunchyroll? |

I signed up ages ago as they were one of the only legal anime streaming websites in the Uk. The service has always been great and up until recently they always made lots of titles available to outside Japan. They still do but there are a lot of USA only ones at the moment which is annoying as we all pay the same subscription fee.
