I am aware of no solid conclusion that definitively points to one or the other. I suppose that I could go digging more, but it doesn't seem worth it at the moment. However, the bottom line is that to say that one gender is more unfaithful than the other is simply playing on stereotypes. Not facts.
In my experience (amongst those who I know and in my own personal experiences) it's been the women who have a slight lead. With that said, personal experience does not describe the larger reality.
The safe assumption at this time would be to view the behavior of both sexes as being about equal, at least until we have more solid information.

They get tired of the same ole and one day they wake up and decide they aren't REALLY living anymore they reminisce about the good ole days and somewhere in between they say "Hey! That can be me again !" . Some try to involve they're wife suggesting they go and do something wild and the wife says no or nags about how they cant afford it etc ... all the while not knowing that her mid life crisis hubby is most definitely going to do what she just told him not to do because he simply does not care anymore he wants to live like hes free and in order to do that he needs a new life with someone or something new. Coming to this realization he throws caution to the wind and has a really great time until the excitement dies down and he is left with guilt not because he did wrong but because he had a really good time and doesn't want his wife or other life to know. We all know eventually shit catches up somehow, maybe its because he cant let go of having a good time ie the other woman or maybe its because he is trying to hard to hide what hes done. Mid life crisis happens to all of us its just how you deal with it and how you dont deal with it. When mines rolls around I plan to throw caution to the wind xD

We all agreed when mid life crisis happens not to get in each others ways. Psychologists are for the weak minded. That is not what I am. I always get what I desire not alot of people can own their lives like I do.

why do men cheat on their wife? there are many factors. i'll name a few: the man got seduced; the marriage he is in was a "shotgun marriage; his marriage isn't working out and have given up on it; the wife didn't take care of herself physically; the wife doesn't want to give him any sexual pleasures; the man is a sex addict.

There are a bunch of excuse out there. Simply, they weren't worthy of there partner to begin with. Time strengthens the heart, it should never get weaker if you truly love the person.

they fall in love... then they get married.
they're all in love and stuff...
and then life gets super boring.
repeat, without the getting married part.
then there are the people that get married just to look good to the public.
no feelings connected.

Same reason why the wife would cheat on the husband, they're unsatisfied with their relationship :p
