Hey guys,
Ixion Saga DT will start on Sunday, October 7th at 10am PDT worldwide except Japan for premium members. Free members have access in the USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden. The protagonist, Hokaze Kon, is sent to another world called Mira, the home of a mysterious energy known as Alma. Kon appears just as Princess Ecarlate is being attacked by enemies and saves her, later accompanying her party in this new world he knows nothing about. As it turns out, the princess was on her way to the capital to be married, but as the marriage was political, she has been targeted by enemies who oppose the wedding. Since the division of the continent into the nations of Jugglaburk and Regalt, the empire of St. Piria has monopolized the power of Alma energy, and the shadow of war looms over the world. In order to avoid war between St. Piria and those who oppose it, the emperor of St. Piria planned to wed his daughter, the 36th imperial princess, Ecarlate, to the lord of the opposing nation of Jugglaburk. Ecarlate departed for the wedding in secret, but many of her companions were killed in the enemy attack. Only a guardian knight and a maid survived, saved along with the princess by the arrival of Kon. Later, Kon is told that he might find a way back to his own world if he goes to the capital, so he accompanies the princess and her party there. Can they make it to the capital safely? Wow, an anime based on a game Capcom made that has never made it to outside Japan. I would have preferred that Capcom make a Monster Hunter anime, as that is their biggest Franchise in Japan and it actually has some visibility in the United States and Europe.
From the preview this anime seems ok but not amazing. A good anime to take the Sunday Timeslot from Oda Nobuna. I hope this is more enjoyable than that series. |

Worldwide except Japan for premium members is great indeed. Good availability to the free members too.

AH! That explains why CR hadn't posted this earlier. They were getting the regions locked in. Had me worried there for a second. Looks interesting enough so I'll check it out.

Yeah, this looks like it was a direct license, so it could well be that they were able to lock in the streaming license, but the licensor had to go back to the production committee to approve the worldwide streaming for premium members. That would explain the news of the license coming out a few days before they were ready to open up the series page. |

Doesn't seem that interesting a series (I'm not familiar with the game it's based off of, and the PV doesn't really grab me), but I'll give it the ole 3-episode view before making up my mind

wait, so available worldwide for Premium? but not worldwide for Free members?
I didn't think there was that big a difference, at least licensing-wise. |

Wondering what the Spring 2013 Simcast will hold...

It certainly makes a difference in areas where Crunchyroll wants to promote more paying members since ad-streaming would not support the cost of the license for that area. And as Japanese licensors see that the premium members in some regions are giving them a decent amount of royalties, I would expect that availability for those areas would be increased. Crunchyroll being as worldwide with more series means good things for Crunchyroll, those countries that don't get anime streaming otherwise and for the anime industry as a whole. |
