Eh, I'm getting my PhD in engineering, but I don't really plan to use it. My ambition consists of getting a position at a community college and teaching. Also, are you from an HR recruiting firm? You kinda sound like it.

Science and Mathematics is a broad range of majors. In four years about half a million jobs have been created. Where will these 250,00 jobs specifically related to developing space exploration technology will come from? I think any jobs created in engineering would be better suited towards environmental sustainability than space exploration technology; which will most likely end up in military tech before it enters space.

I have a degree in electrical engineering, and it's definitely a lot easier to get a well paying job with a tech degree, even if it's not directly related to your major. It seems almost any job to do with developing new technology, you need at least a master's degree or PhD and several years of experience in the field. Otherwise it's mostly just running, testing and/or fixing existing technology.

Unfortunately there aren't too many people who pursue technical degrees, because of the amount of time and work it takes. People want to party in college and have fun, and it seems that most people prioritize their fun more than their studies, not to mention high schools in the US are woefully poor at preparing people for college level studies.

I earned a bachelor of arts degree in Mathematics just this Spring after 3 years of undergraduate study--still looking for a job although I've got a pretty promising interview next week ^_^.

And yeah, there definitely is a dearth of people with STEM degrees out there in the USA; what can we say...guess we're an elite club!

Working on a BS in geology with an emphasis on geospatial analysis. I'll most likely go right into a master's program so another 3-4 years of school for me.

I am going to study either "Physics, math, astronomy, history, programming and philosophy" I really want to go somewhere into the Physics and astronomy (and math, because I'm pretty bad at it >.<) more than the other 3, but those are my other likes I would really like to become a Stephan Hawking or Einstein one day

Im a 3rd year EE student in Canada do I count? It takes about 4 years here in Canada to graduate with a B.A.Sc. for 'traditional' Engineering disciplines. Also, my school (UBC) offers Engineering Physics as a study area ...

Doing a bachelor's degree in biology. Hoping it'll eventually take me to something like conservation or environmental protection, but another thing I'm interested in is astrobiology...

I don't really know what I want to do with it, just that it involves the natural world! I'll see where the wind takes me

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science here. Trying my hand at being an indie game developer at the moment. About to release my first game but if that flops, will probably take the first software development job I find.

Of course you count buddy! Us polar bear-riding, igloo dwelling, snow-loving northerners must stick together eh? (though with the state of science and research in the hands of the government these days... )
